Signet — Terms of Service
1. Agreement to these Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using Signet (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use the Service.
We may update these Terms (see § 15). The Effective date at the top reflects the most recent update.
2. Who can use Signet
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Signet. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.
By using Signet you represent that the information you provide is accurate, that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that your use of the Service does not violate any law applicable to you.
3. Your account
- You may have one account per person.
- You're responsible for keeping the email address associated with your account secure. If someone gains access to your email, they can sign in to your Signet account.
- You're responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You sign in using a passwordless email code — there is no password. See the Privacy Policy § 2.1.
- Notify us at mtgsignet@gmail.com if you suspect your account has been accessed without your permission.
4. Acceptable use
Signet is for tracking life totals, decks, and history for Magic: The Gathering Commander games. You agree not to:
- Use display names, deck names, deck-list text, or other content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, contains personal information about other people, or violates applicable law.
- Impersonate any other person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or entity.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its infrastructure, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
- Scrape, harvest, mirror, or extract data from the Service except using the data-export mechanism described in the Privacy Policy.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Signet app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service in a way that materially burdens the infrastructure or simulates user activity.
- Use the Service to violate any law or any third party's rights.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. We may also remove specific content (such as a display name or deck name) that violates this section while leaving the account otherwise intact.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create in Signet — your display name, your decks, your game history, and similar inputs. By creating that content within a pod or in a multi-device context, you grant Signet a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display that content within the Service so that the Service can function as designed (for example, showing your display name and the deck you've armed to the other players in your pod).
This license is solely for operating the Service. We don't use your content for advertising, model training, or any purpose outside running Signet.
You represent that you have the right to share the content you put into Signet and that doing so doesn't violate any law or third-party right.
6. Magic: The Gathering and third-party intellectual property
Signet is an independent fan-made tool. Signet is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast LLC, Hasbro, Inc., or any other game publisher.
Magic: The Gathering, Commander, all card names, card images, and related trademarks are property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Signet retrieves card names and metadata via the Scryfall API. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Magic: The Gathering content within Signet (including the decks you build and share) complies with Wizards of the Coast's policies and applicable law.
7. Service availability
Signet is provided on an as-available basis. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice.
Signet relies on third-party infrastructure (Supabase, Resend, Scryfall, Vercel). Outages, errors, or changes at those providers may affect the Service. We aren't responsible for losses caused by third-party outages.
8. Fees
Signet is free at launch, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid features.
If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll give clear notice and obtain your affirmative consent before charging. We will not retroactively start charging for features that were previously available for free.
The "Support Signet" Patreon link, if shown, is a voluntary donation channel operated by Patreon. Donating does not unlock any in-app feature, grant access to any paid content, or create any agreement between you and Signet other than your relationship with Patreon under Patreon's own terms.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. When you do, data tied to your account is removed as described in Privacy Policy § 7 and § 8.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or place other users or the infrastructure at risk. We'll generally try to give notice and an opportunity to fix the issue first, but we may act immediately for severe violations or where legally required.
Sections 5 (your content license, for content remaining in other players' game history), 10 (IP complaints), 12 (disclaimers), 13 (limitation of liability), and 14 (indemnification) survive termination of your account.
10. Intellectual-property complaints
If you believe that content within Signet infringes your copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property right, please email mtgsignet@gmail.com with:
- Your name and contact information.
- A description of the work you believe is being infringed.
- The location of the allegedly infringing content within Signet (e.g., a description of the deck name or display name and the pod or user involved, to the extent you can describe it).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the rights holder or law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.
We'll respond to valid notices promptly. We may also remove or disable access to content that we reasonably believe infringes a third party's rights, with or without notice to the user who posted it.
11. Apple App Store terms
The following applies if you obtained the Signet app from the Apple App Store. In case of conflict between these Apple-specific terms and the rest of these Terms with respect to the App Store version of the app, the Apple-specific terms control.
- These Terms are concluded between you and Signet only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your license to use the Signet app is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control and as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the app.
- In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including (a) product-liability claims, (b) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and (c) claims arising under consumer-protection or similar legislation.
- In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual-property rights, Signet, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of the claim to the extent required by these Terms.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist-supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA STORED IN THE SERVICE WILL BE PRESERVED WITHOUT LOSS.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL SIGNET, ITS OPERATOR, OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the limits above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Signet and its operator from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to (a) your use of the Service, (b) the content you submit, post, or share through the Service, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the Effective date at the top, post the new Terms at this URL, and notify signed-in users inside the app on next launch. Non-material changes (typos, clarifications, formatting) may be made without notice.
Continued use of the Service after a material change becomes effective means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't accept an updated Terms, your remedy is to stop using the Service and delete your account.
16. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Signet regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all assets, with notice to you.
- No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and Signet.
